Pimpin’ With Purpose

Well, it seems the summer hibernation has given birth to some fantastic new adventures around the blogosphere and world, especially those with a bent toward helping others find better lives.

So, I figured I’d share a few of my faves with you this morning…

  • Acumen Fund Fellows Program: Thinking about getting involved in an amazing organization that promotes change by facilitating entrepreneurship in developing countries? Then check out The Acumen Fund. I first became aware of this amazing organization through Seth Godin, who has championed what they do for some time. They are now accepting applications for a new class of fellows to join them in their worldwide efforts. If you’ve got the time, the desire and the energy, it might just be the experience of a lifetime.
  • TrainForHumanity.com brings together bloggers, fitness and generosity: Launched by blogger, Mark Hayward, and joined in his efforts by ZenHabits.net’s Leo Babauta and Escape101’s Dan Clements, Train For Humanity is an innovative humanitarian campaign. It blends the training and competition efforts of everyday athletes with blogging and social media in an effort to raise awareness and money to help end the suffering in places like Darfur. If you’re wondering how you can make a difference, this is a perfect outlet. Make a donation, any amount will do, then pass the word on about this fantastic initiative. Get involved, it doesn’t take much!
  • Naomi & Havi Rockin’ Your Worlds: One of my favorite bloggers (and people) online is Naomi Dunford from Ittybiz. She’s smart, driven, real (man, is she real) and, in the end, though she has trouble fessing up to it, she really likes to help people and see lightbulbs go on. So, when I heard she was teaming up with another super cool blogger/life-coach (dunno if that’s what you call her), Havi “The Havinator” Brooks to offer a 6-week program called “Self Promotion For Wimps*,” I was all over it. Turns out the program is a lot bigger than the name implies. If you’ve got an idea, be it about life or business, that you need help defining, refining and finally doing something about, this tele-course might just rock your world. BUT…IT STARTS LATER TODAY at 4:00 EST!!! So, go read about it asap!
  • Figure Out What To Do With Your Life With Pam Slim: Dunno, seems like I have a lot of favorite people online, because blogger, entrepreneurship maven and coach, Pam Slim, is, um, yet another person I just love to send people to (detecting a theme, I tend to be drawn toward people who are real and like to help others). Pam’s also a Martha Beck Master Coach (Martha wrote the bestseller Finding Your Own North Star) and she’s kicking off a 15-week telecourse designed to help you figure out what you want to do with your life…then DO IT!. Hers starts September 23rd, so go read more about and see if it’s right for you!

Okay, that was the last item on my Pimpin’ With Purpose list for the day. Wheww, that felt good.

Now, go change your lives, save our planet and help people around the world live in peace!

Hey Jonathan – a sincere *thank you* for mentioning TrainforHumanity.org we really appreciate the support!

We’re really excited about the project and look forward to expanding in the future so that more ‘would be’ athletes can participate.

Hey Bro, I was going to say “thanks for pimping me out!” but then I said “uh, maybe that is not a good thing to leave in a comment!”

What I really meant to say is thanks so much for the support! I feel the same about you, always happy to send anyone your way since I know you will totally kick ass. You are definitely a “person I like to send people to too.”

Keep on keeping on with your bad self.

Those look like some fantastic blogs! Hopefully I’ll be able to add a few of them to the list that I check out daily. I think it’s great that so many people are trying to help others. I guess the world isn’t as bad as most people think.
