Kudos to Allan for making it happen!

This is pretty much how I live my life all the time; currently in Maui! Granted, it’s simpler because I am my own boss, so putting the idea to the boss isn’t such a scary proposition, but I really hope this is an option more and more companies are going to be willing to consider for their employees in the future too.

Large international companies have a great opportunity to jump on ideas like this; they already have a network of people all over the globe, how amazing would it be if they could set up a scheme whereby workers could swap houses and desks with each other.

I think this is an excellent plan. Anything that allows people to get out of their “normal” lives and go somewhere else is great.

When I was 22 I able to get a job at Lund University in southern Sweden working for a year in a biochemistry lab. I worked for a guy who had been a postdoc in my lab at UC Davis in California.

Here’s an idea for Starbucks: let your employees go to other countries and work for three months, six months, or longer if legal. They already know what they need to do; they just have learn the language.

  3. That’s amazing! My long-term goal is to create a location independent business so that I can travel around with my family and still support us, just like this.
It’s always inspiring to hear from those who have already done it. Thanks for sharing!
