You CAN Do That: What Happens When You Dare to Dream
It starts when we’re kids…
We get an idea in our heads about something we’d love to do. Something completely “out there.” Somebody nobody else has done before us.
Our stomachs spin with the possibility of bringing our vision to life; we become possessed…obsessed.
But, then come the dream killers. The naysayers. Those who go glumly along, willing to guide what they are and are not capable of by the often misguided, untested wisdom of those who’ve come before them. Those who’ve tried and failed. Or, more likely, never bothered trying.
Because they too were told, “you can’t do that!” And, now they’re passing this lifestifling proclamation down to you.
You can’t do that…words that kill dreams.
Well, this is what happens when one person steps up and says, “Just watch me…”
Rise above the limitations of others.
Kick the Tires. Reveal your inner artist.
You may just create magic.

Absolutely amazing and sick! (Sick is good btw) At 3:10 of the video he pulls of what is nothing short of amazing. Thanks for sharing this Jonathan! Very inspiring!
You know, I’ve been vehemently insisting all my life that I wouldn’t let those dream-killers stop me…
And the sad truth is: I HAVEN’T PROVED THEM WRONG YET!
Thank you so much for the inspiration, Jonathan and Danny!
!WOW!
wow. simply wow.
yyup this is so important , to follow your own passion of who u are and not letting others who are not you to dictate your life. its like trying to wear shirts that dont fit and in a colour u hate just because its the acceptable colour. what if everyone wears grey and u have to wear grey too ?
sorry i got my own brain of what i can do and doing it well. thanks ya for the encouragement at least some pple believe that everything is possible instead of the normal everything is not possible.
Amazing and inspiring. Thanks Jonathan and Danny!
Oh my goodness thank you for this. Spellbinding. Been a bit overwhelmed lately, now I can go to bed inspired. That wasn’t just amazing riding – there’s something frankly spiritual about it. Gorgeous music too. Wow, just wow.
I often send links to your blog hoping others will enjoy it as I do, but this one (with the video) is really great. I intend to add the link to my next post.
Dennis Leger, the crabby old runner
That is amazing! I wouldn’t attempt a lot of those things on my feet, much less on a bicycle!
Thanks so much for sharing, I forwarded it on to some of my friends. Hopefully they’ll be motivated as much as I am by it.
Everyone go out into the world today and do what you love. Make sure someone else sees it and is given value. Voila. You have a business. It’s that simple.
Awesome! Simply awesome! What a great way to showcase the results of hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
That’s not a bicycle, it’s an antigravity machine.
This is the year everything changes.
This is the year I prove that I can, in fact, do that.
That was AWESOME! Thanks for the encouraging post. The thing is MacAskill was pushing so many limits – his bikes, our understanding of the laws of everyday physics, the bystanders’ expectations, but most of all himself – just by chasing passion. An awesome lesson indeed.
[...] Yes, you can. Don’t be afraid to reach for something that is considered impossible by others. [...]
That video is amazing. I remember watching it when you tweeted it a while back. To me, there’s no better motivation than someone telling me I can’t do something. I’m going skiing this weekend and if I don’t break at least one bone, I will not have been daring enough!
My ex-wife won’t be pleased but I’m forwarding this post to my sons, 13 and 11 years old. I’d rather see them break a wrist or ankle pushing the limits than being safe but spending all their time in front of a video game screen.
Not as often as I would like to but every once in a while I post a comment. Sometime because I totally disagree and a few times just to say “Thank you!!! for reminding me!”
So thank you Jonathan Fields!
That video was sick (and inspiring)! Thanks for posting.
Very well put! Thanks!
