$100k to leave a carreer and never come back is quite small in this economy. I am confident I can make that (after taxes) in three years at my current job, and I actually plan on leaving this carreer and furthering my education, and am working toward that goal. $200k after taxes and I would jump at it. My carreer can be bought, your offer is just not equal to the price.

at this point in my life, I'd have to give an emphatic YES! I'd pay half of my student loans off and live off the other half for about a year and work launching my business in a big way.

$100k is definitely a lot of money. I would be able to use that to open up a business of my own. However, I would say NO to this one mainly because I'm in the career path that I want to be in. Even if I put up my own business, it'd still be something related to it. Nevertheless, if I find something else I'm more passionate about then maybe I could take that money. Can I pass GO and collect $200 instead? :)

That's right, I said Hell Yes!

I am young, no kids, no mortgage so at this stage in life I am able to change direction. I am trying to change direction as we speak, the job has been jettisoned, now I have just got to find that something that I can sink my teeth into. Sure I have back-ups in place (a very supporting fiancé and bridges that were never burned) but now is the time for me to find that next career.

I understand that not everybody has a job that is a burden, why would you leave if you loved your job so much, no money in the world would move you. Even without a monetary incentive I am still looking for a new career, but $100k would be one awesome kick-start!

A complete career change, and $100k to get you going? HELL YES!

Yeah, sure I'd take it. My job is fine - as far as regular jobs go - but it doesn't really inspire any passion in me and given an opportunity to do something different would be exciting. So yeah, I would take the money with open hands and start searching for something new. As it stands now - without anyone actually offering me $100k - the goal is already there for me to leave my career behind by the end of this year (the sooner the better).

Interesting question, I wish I could have answered with a resounding NO as some of your other readers have...

Yep. That would buy me about 1-1/2 years at my current salary to get my dreams moving into reality. I'd be scared as hell because I've been in the same career for 20 years, but that's exactly why I'd go for it.
