"Since when is the safe option handing over the keys to your career to someone else and hoping that, in challenging times, they’ll make the tough decisions in “your” best interest, rather than in “their” best interest?"

Folks need to understand one principle in human behavior that guides us all.

We'll do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure.

With that in mind...hoping the boss will make the tough decision in your favor just isn't in the cards. He's got people to feed and house too. So where does that leave the rest of us?

Either working towards our own "best interest" or giving the keys to our life to someone else.
