Lip Service Serves No One
I’m kind.
I’m likable.
I’m smart.
I’m funny.
I’m worthy.
I’m beautiful.
I’m lovable.
I’m blessed.
I’m brilliant.
I’m capable.
I’m insightful.
I’m compassionate.
I’m engaged.
I’m present.
I am enough.
Saying “I know” all these things isn’t enough.
Embody them. Live them. Turn them into fuel for action.
Make them manifest in the world.
Lip service serves no one.

Jonathan you wrote this for me? You shouldn’t have. But I truly appreciate it!
This is wonderful and so worth reading on a Monday morning. We tend to complement ourselves far too little as we’re always chasing the next thing, trying to improve and be better than last time.
Celebrations for small achievements, gratitude for your loved ones and your life are so important to acknowledge on a daily and weekly basis.
Be kind to yourself and others – always.
Natalie
Jonathan, your post mirrors my thoughts. So sick of the ‘lip service’ not to mention the ‘quotes’ and pictures of the bucolic life style lived on some unknown dimension. It’s time to show up and dig in. It’s time to put spirit into action instead of just talking about it. And as far as I’m concerned, it’s also time to sign out of social networking services and sign up for REAL LIFE RELATIONSHIPS more often. Too much facebook makes everyone dull. The fact that so many actually prefer the virtual world to real life connections I find deeply troubling on so many levels. Thank you for your post, it is indeed timely.
To make it even more effective, replace the “I’m”s with “I am…”
Jonathan, love your work. You inspire me all the time! Thanks.
I am all this and more.
You are all this and more, too.
Show me.
Woke me up out of the Monday Morning Fog.
Get engaged.
This is the first day, and maybe the last, of the rest of my life.
And Yours.
Gratefully, Alex
You is kind, you is smart, you is important.
“Ditto” – Best line from that movie – what a valuable lesson in self-esteem taught by someone who could have felt so devalued in her own life – isn’t that a great thing to be teaching our children and others!!!
Thank you!
Thank you for a great reminder of who I am. We can’t change the world with mantras – instead, we must manifest. Here I go!
Maybe it’s the constant background noise of contentious presidential campaigning, but I become less and less tolerant of bumper sticker hate, shallow reasoning and talk, talk , talk.
I wish we would all just get busy with some actions instead of complaining, blaming and waiting for somebody else to get things done.
Glad I’m not the only one…
When people compliment me, saying things like “you’re so capable / engaged / worthy, etc.,” I smile and say “I know.” Heh heh.
Well… to be honest… I only say that to close friends and family who understand I’m being self-affirming. And I’ll follow up immediately with something to give THEM an affirmation.
But for most people, saying these affirmations internally if you’re around others is probably your best bet.
As RuPaul says, “Everybody say Love!”
I am.
Being holds potential. But only doing can manifest that potential as service that actually benefits others.
Thank you, thank you! I was procrastinating on my way to writing a new blog post about living into my purpose when I tripped over your email. I am using this list as “fuel for action” and will be writing that post now!

Thanks for reminding me to re-set my thoughts.
I am Me.
Well said; sharp and to the point. I thoroughly agree it’s about time people began doing instead of simply being all talk. People say they care about something but do nothing to support their words. We are fighting for the rights of others each and every day. Keep up the good work Jonathan.
I’m a California Redwood Tree standing on top of Kilimanjaro. What’s that snow? I don’t care … my roots go deep.
G for you.
