Thanks for pointing us to this book. I trust information that can be shared in short and interesting form.

I immediately posted about this on my blog today, and I signed up for Vimeo.

Thanks again Jonathan. You are my hero.

I loved seeing the trailer's examples of hot marketing books of decades gone by. I still have the journal pages I wrote when going through What Color is Your Parachute, when it was new. :-)

Manga/Anime is such a rich medium. There is so much that can be done with it. American "cartoons" have a long way to go before they're in that arena.

@ Greg - I get the hesitation, but think on this...

Some of the most profound lessons in history have been told in sentence fragments and drawings. The reason...because those were the communication media most effective at reaching the target audience at the time.

Though the advice Dan shares in the book resonates strongly with me, the real genius is the decision to meet the intended readers where they are. Manga is a very hot, very hip medium right now among Gen Y and younger.

So, sharing the information in a format that already connects with that demo increases the likelihood that they'll actually not only read it, but allow the messages to sink in. It might not be for everyone, but I believe it's a very effective end-result for the right market.

I loved this book. Sadly the business book section offers the same 'dry' type of advice that has been shoveled our way for years. If you enjoyed this book, you would like Wingtips with Spurs: Lessons From the Ranch. It is a book of practical, straight-forward advice for those in management. While containing a rebel thread, it may not be for the stuffed shirt, but everyone else will enjoy the refreshing insights. It's release is June 1 for bookstores but available online now.

I think it seems like a complete waste of time, personally! What serious career guide would use Manga Style, eh?

I just saw this book at Barnes and Noble. My husband and his friend wanted to see it too, but I suspect just for the graphics.

Looks like a very quick read.

Johhny Bunko should get Generation "Y"ers interested in finding a career, yessir. Thanks for your thoughts on the graphic novel that could entice even the most reticent of teens to check out some much-needed kick-in-the-pants goodness. I linked to your post in my blog at the Innovators-Network today with hopes of spreading the word and getting a few more people to awake@the wheel.
