Deep flow video: violin meets hip-hop

A few years back, I saw Bruce Springsteen in concert, 15th row, center. He blew my mind. It wasn’t so much that I loved his music. I grew up on a lot of it and a solid chunk of it brings back great memories and makes me want to sing and dance. But, there was something else, much bigger going on that the kept the standing-room only crowd enraptured for more than 3-hours.

Bruce was alive, completely and utterly immersed in what he was doing. There was an astonishing sense of presence, joy and authenticity that was near impossible to resist. Maybe it was because it is so rarely found these days. Maybe because we all dream of finding a way to earn a living that takes us to that same place and has that same effect on others.Whatever it was, it was pure magic. And, every once in a while, I stumble upon other artists, musicians or others who, regardless of the field, seem to exude that same energy. Total immersion, like they could just keep doing what they were doing until someone else stopped them and told them, minutes, hours or days later, it was time to sleep or eat or just take a break.

These people are a blessing to find and a treasure to watch. Because, in witnessing their expression of joy, I am reminded of the need to continually pursue my own. I am reminded that nothing is out of the realm of possibility. That rules only apply to those who agree to be bound.

Tonight, I happened to stumble upon a video of two guys who, once again, blew me away with their originality, their authenticity, their sheer delight at creating something radically out of the box and melting into the experience with every fiber. It’s unusual. Extraordinary.
